Traditional Environmental Knowledge

Doctoral research with Haudenosaunee communities, 2009 - 2016

I completed my doctorate through McGill University Department of Anthropology in May, 2016. My dissertation is based upon upon fieldwork from 2011, and cumulative learning over the years between 2009 and 2016. During that time, I did about 30 interviews, attending teachings, volunteered, and worked in the university and the community with Haudenosaunee students, educators, elders, and community members.

Master's research in Ireland, 2003 - 2004

I completed a Master of Science degree through the University of Kent at Canterbury Etnobotany program. For that degree, I carried out research in Dingle, Ireland on women's knowledge of traditional medicine. Harvard Papers in Botany published an article based upon my master's thesis; there is a link to that article in the publications section.
